Making the best of what we have.

Well yesterday, I went to listen two talks by the Ajahn Brahm. [For those of you who do not know who he is, do a google search or search it in wikipedia :) ]

I cannot remember what is the title of the talks though, cos I think title are just superficial :P. Once they attract me to the talk, then I forgot about it. Haha! Anyway, one thought has been explained further and can move on to other thoughts that I need to unravel. That particular thought that was unravel during the talk was this:

Since we should focus on the present moment, that means we do what we can NOW, do we still plan for the future? The answer is, we should still plan but don't make those plans too concrete. Be flexible or I should say, allow flexibility in your plans. Don't plan on one route and just travel no matter what happens. Be ready to make changes when there is a need. If there is nothing you can do, do nothing, enjoy a cup of tea instead. :) If it is suppose to happen, an opportunity will come up for it to happen. Well, at least these are based on my understanding.

Another thing that I took with me from those talk is this fact. Yet to verify though, but the reason why birds when they roost on the tree, never seem to fall off, even when there is a strong wind blowing. The reason is because of their leg's muscle structure. Apparently, when they are relaxed, the muscles actually caused the leg to cling tighter onto the branches. This is something that I think is very valuable to me right now. I have yet to actually learn the full meaning of "Letting go" but knowing this fact actually brings me a large step forward to understanding the concept. Now most people would think, that is the structure of the bird, how can it apply to life? Well, if you remember about LOA, this is how it translates.

When you are relaxed, you tend to rest well and good feelings come when you are relaxed or rest well. Correct? So as we all know, when you have good feelings, you tend to have positive thoughts and LOA says that as long as you have positive thoughts, it attracts other positive things into your life.

To maintain in that relaxed state, there needs to be two things. Having strong faith that the things you want will come. And when things do not go the way that you want it to, think positive cos that might actually be the better route for you. As the Chinese saying goes,"When Uncle Sai lose his horse, we do not know whether it is misfortune or a nice surprise." (Literal translation of course :P) Once these two conditions are met, you will be relaxed and enjoy the ride that is designed by life.

Well, the two talks are still in my head, waiting to be unravel, as I travel along the timeline of my life. And I am sure they will come up as and when I need a wisdom nugget to guide me to the life that I want.

Thank you very much for the two talks. Cheers!
