Oh my goodness, I have to go back to the starting point?
Have you ever been in a situation where, in the process of doing things, you realize that there is actually a better way of doing things or worse, you have done it the wrong way and in both instances, restart is the only option or maybe for the former, you continue doing your 'old' way but with the knowledge of a better process of doing things, you might actually finished it way faster than the old method.
I am sure most of us have gone through that. I recently realize that I also am in such a situation. I realize that I have 'wasted' two months on it and now have to restart or I would not reach the goal that I want.
Now for most of us, the first instance when we encounter such a situation is "Oh SHIT! Why like that? Why didn't I think/realize/see/know..... it? Damn! Have to restart! Wasted so much time on it!!! Grrr....." Or something of similar nature.
Now for most people I am sure most of us would then restart the whole process and during the process just keep on complaining about why they did not think/realize/see/know.... of the new process. Well there is something I would like to share with the readers. Actually the new process should not be that painful, if you look carefully, when you go through the new process, it is suppose to turn out similar result with less effort so why should it be that bad? Right?
So what makes the new process so difficult? It is because of two things, firstly by taking on the new process, we are actually making changes and most of us know how much we hate changes! For those of you who have read my previous blog, you would know the story of the dog and the nail. We hate changes, so we have a high inertia to change. Only when things are so painful, then we make changes.
Second, because we are so resistant to change, we complain throughout the whole process. Have you ever realise that these complaints only serve the purpose of reminding you the pain you are going through? Eureka? Wait till you hear this mind-blowing fact and that will stop you from complaining. These complaints are CREATED BY YOU! Yes, you created it, I am going to be straight in the face. Every word in the complaint came from you. You tailor-made the complaint suit yourself. Realise the funny part of it? Want to know how to stop complaining? Well, tell yourself to stop MANUFACTURING those complaints! Just shut up and concentrate on working in the new process and before you know it, you have finish EASILY.
Well, if you do not believe me, tried it yourself and see the difference. I tried it and it worked for me. Not to take full credit for seeing the whole picture, I have to thank Ajahn Brahm for telling the story of the wheelbarrow. He made my see the whole picture and how all these come together.
As I mentioned above, I realise the mistake I made recently and 'wasted' two months on it. So now I have to restart again. The new process will be more daunting because of the huge change I need to make, but I have to change it because the previous method is not going to get me anywhere. So yes, I paid the price in time, but if I give up and don't try the new process, then I truly have wasted the two months' time.
So next time when you come to a situation when you realise that you need to redo or restart. Do yourself a favor. Stop complaining and just do it. :)
Cheers!

Doesn't this reminds one of the "snake and ladder" game? :P
