Thinking Business
Hmmmm....... I seem to be doing a lot of thinking lately. Haha, judging from my blog entries, I have been writing almost everyday, for the month of June. Well, it has been an emotional month for me. Anyway, let's not go into that :) Griping about it is definitely not part of letting go.
What I want to talk about is an incident yesterday. Met up with some friends yesterday and chat a bit about using the Internet for business purposes. Very funny leh, I seem to be 'consulting' people who are already in business while I still do not have anything to show for. Haha! This tells me something, as long as what you say makes sense to them, they will believe you. :P
Now when thinking through business, it is not really like thinking a scientific question where usually there is one path to the answer (correct me if I am wrong pls) because of all the laws and theorems that are formulated or found out. When you are thinking about doing business, you have to think of several areas at the same time. The reason why this is so is because the moves that you take in one area will affect how other areas of business will run and it is never a one way traffic. The effect runs both ways so you can see one decision you take in an area will affect the whole business environment, and to make it more challenging, you have to think in terms of iterations sometimes. For instance, if you make a marketing campaign, then you have to worry about the logistics (like getting the goods to distributors or the free gifts, if any) and hope that the logistics process would not have any problem, and if there are problems, what are your back up-plans and this back-up plan is it suitable for the amount of manpower that you have and many many more. So you can see, the implications can be large for one decision you make in an area.
That is why I like the business arena because it really put your brain to the challenge and because of the large implications, there is no way you can run away from getting knowledge from all areas of business, which means more learning! YES! Anyway, the discussion I mentioned on top is good, it has sharpen my business acumen and thinking as well. Sometimes, I myself am amazed what I said. Haha!
Cheers!
