Definition of Good Friend
What is a good friend? If there are four billion people in this world, there will be four billion definitions of good friend. But then I am sure there is a common ground of what is a good friend for all the four billion definition of "Good Friend", right?
For instance, would you tell a secret to a friend? Surely you must be good friend before you will tell him/her your secret right? Because it is understood that there must be a certain level of trust before you can entrust a friend with your secret, although this level again varies for each individual. And this level of trust must have been achieved before you can classify a friend, a good friend.
Just a question, would you tell an acquaintance or friend your family problem? Now this is a bit more complicated. For me, there must be a level of trust before I will tell someone what family problem I have. I have portrayed such a perception to all my friends, meaning if one of my friends tell me his/her family problem, that means he/she treated me as a good friend.
But I seem to have run into walls with such perception or so it seems. Because the person other actions seem to speak otherwise. I seem to have been taken for granted. :) I would not take my good friends for granted. In fact, they are another form of wealth for me. Such wealth is priceless, money can never buy such 'wealth'. I rather be rich in this wealth than being rich in material wealth. But then again it does not mean I do not want material wealth hor, it only means I prefer one to another. :D I always respect my good friends and when they need help, I would help them if it is within my means. You can see why I have few good friends, because I do not have much time! Hahaha! Just kidding! :)
I have no idea, maybe I should hang out with this person a bit more before I decide what level of "good friends" I should be when this person is around. Then I reciprocate at that level.
Comments? :)
Cheers!
