Back from Ho Chi Minh

Haha, did not realise that I have not written my blog for more than 2 weeks! Wow.

Anyway, I just came back from Ho Chi MInh City. A very disorderly place I would say. Things are very haphazard and very disorderly so much so that 'orderliness' is a very rare thing there. But this trip open up my horizon. Some assumptions that we have taken for granted are broken when I was there. For example, in Singapore, the traffic are very orderly and each motorist or pedestrian has its own personal space. But in Ho Chi Minh, those that are riding scooters are the lowest of the hierarchy in terms of users of roads. At the turnaround, you cannot expect that the vehicles are moving in a smooth flow because a scooter, bike (I mean two wheels non-motorised one) and cars can come from any direction at the turnaround and the best part is you can see the local people playing 'capteh' (feathered stuff with a rubber base, it is a kampong game that is played using the legs similar to sepak takraw.)

Food was good but not really that cheap. It is only cheap for those that has a iron stomach because hygiene is found at the back of ALL hawkers mind. The Vietnamese people are very pratical in terms of using their motorbikes or scooters. They can practically use it to transport everything and I am not joking. I saw them transport large piece of mirror, LCD TV and large refrigerator. Yes!!! Haha, and not forgetting food stuff that they want to sell without any cover at all. So can you imagine your food having a layer of exhaust fume on top of it. Hehe!

Over there the people do not say sorry when they bump to each other. You will always be on the losing end if you give way often. You will not get anywhere if you do that. I also got into the act of bargaining for things that I want. Wow, a lot of techniques and skills involve and I am glad I have done it. It is a very enriching and exciting experience.

Ok have to stop here. Will write down more abt my trip when I have the time! Cheers!

Points of View

Another paragraph from the same book that I want to share with everyone. Hope it increase your understanding of this reality we are in.

"Relatively speaking, there are right views and there are wrong views. But if we look deeply, we see that all view are wrong views. No view can ever be the truth. It is just from one point; that is why it is called a 'point of view'. If we go to another point, we will see things differently and realize our first view was not entirely right."

Another food for thought! Again, do share your comments on this. It would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

An idea of Happiness

Like to share a paragraph from a book which I am reading now. "The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching" by Thich Nat Hanh.

I shan't explain the paragraph, just want to share the meaning of the paragraph. Here goes!

"We have an idea of happiness. We believe that only certain conditions will make us happy. But it is often our very idea of happiness that prevents us from being happy."

Do share with me your thoughts on this paragraph. =)

Cheers!
